How much does a law firm website cost in South Africa?

The honest answer is a range so wide it's useless until you know what moves the number. So here is what moves the number.

The price is mostly people-hours in disguise

A website's cost is the hours spent on it multiplied by who spends them. Template work, where your content gets poured into a theme, takes few hours and costs little. Custom design, real copywriting, photography, and technical SEO take many hours and cost accordingly. Quotes for professional firm sites in South Africa commonly run from a few thousand rand at the template end to R40,000 and beyond for agency builds. Neither end is wrong. The question is what those hours produce for you.

Where the real cost hides

The build price is the visible number. The quiet ones arrive later. Hosting with a margin on it. A retainer for "maintenance" that mostly means being available. Change fees, where moving a paragraph needs a ticket and an invoice. And the largest hidden cost of all: a site that looks fine and brings in nothing, billed as a success because nobody measured it.

Five questions that expose a quote

Ask who actually builds the site, because agencies often subcontract. Ask what happens after launch, in rands, per change. Ask who owns the domain and the site if you leave. Ask what gets measured monthly and whether you'll see it. And ask to see a working example built for a firm like yours, not a portfolio of logos.

The comparison worth making

Do not compare two quotes by their totals. Compare them by what you can verify before paying: can you click something real, measure its speed yourself, and see exactly what the ongoing relationship costs. A cheap site you can't verify is expensive. A fair price you can verify before committing is the actual bargain.

Our answer to the question

We build the site first and show you it working before any invoice exists. You judge the demo by clicking it, and the full engagement is written down before anyone signs. What that costs for your firm specifically, we tell you plainly when we show you the demo, and the demo costs nothing.
